Roger Scott, Jr. and Catherine Medling, have been vigorously defending both residents of Florida and clients residing out of state, in state and federal criminal matters for more than 25 years combined.
Roger Scott, Jr. served in the United States Army as a Signals Intelligence Analyst from April 1983 to May 1987 before graduating from the State University of New York, College at Oswego in 1988 with a degree in Russian Language and Literature. He then moved on to St. Thomas University School of Law, where he made Dean’s List, was Associate Editor of the Law Review, and was a member of the prestigious Honors Fraternity Phi Delta Phi.
As part of the Office of Public Defender, Ninth Judicial Circuit as well as the Federal Public Defender’s Office, Southern District of Florida, Mr. Scott developed his desire to protect and preserve the rights of the public. He is currently ranked with a BV Rating from Martindale-Hubble, is a member of the Florida State Bar, and is licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.
Mr. Scott has received favorable results in a number of diverse cases including:
- Kidnap, Sexual Battery (rape) x6 – Not Guilty
- Tampering with physical evidence – Not Guilty

Catherine Medling graduated from the Dean’s List at the University of Florida in 1989 before attending the university’s College of Law where she graduated with Honors in 1992. After joining the Florida bar in 1993, Ms. Medling entered the Office of the Public Defender of Kissimmee and Orlando, where she quickly moved up the ladder to be Assistant Public defender and eventually Division Chief of Orange County.
Ms. Medling is renowned throughout Florida for her strong negotiating and written communication skills in addition to her extensive trial practice experience. A member of the State Bar of Florida, the Central Florida Criminal Defense Attorneys Association, and NORML Legal Committee, she has tried to completion a number of cases including:
